A 12-year-old girl was killed in Badghis province when a Taliban member started shooting in her direction, local sources say.
This incident, which also resulted in a 20-year-old woman being wounded, occurred on the evening of Tuesday, October 25, according to a resident of Qadis district who spoke to Zan Times on the condition of anonymity. “A brother and sister were walking toward the district market when the Taliban shot them,” the source explains. “The girl was killed and another girl was injured.”
A resident of Nayibha village confirmed the incident and revealed some information about both girls in an interview with Zan Times, saying “The victim was 12 years old, and her name was Fatema; the injured girl is 20 years old and her name is Shima.”
Fatema was killed by a bullet to the head while, Shima was shot in the stomach and is receiving treatment at the Badghis Provincial Hospital, the resident says.
The Taliban told the media one of their fighters had shot “by mistake.”
There are, however, many reports of Taliban shooting at innocent civilians, especially women. Earlier this year, the Taliban shot at passengers of a car in Kabul city, killing a 25-year-old girl named Zainab.
