Dozens of people were killed and injured as a result of two explosions in the cities of Mazar and Jalabad, local sources tell Zan Times.

In the morning of Tuesday, December 6, a vehicle carrying customs employees of the Hairatan border crossing was targeted in Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province. An eyewitness tells Zan Times that the attack was caused by the explosion of a mine planted in a pulling cart. The explosion was so large that more than 10 other cars were destroyed. He says that several people were killed and injured in this bombing, though the exact number of casualties is not known.

The Taliban police in Balkh province confirmed the explosion, saying that seven people were killed and six others were injured. Some local media reports say that more than 20 people were killed.

Later that day at around 2 p.m., another explosion occurred in the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, local sources tell Zan Times. The location was the intersection of Shahid Adam Khan, while it was crowded with shoppers, an eyewitness says.

There is still no official information about the nature and number of victims of this explosion, but some media have said that nine were injured in this explosion.

Although no individual or group has claimed responsibility for these two bombings, ISIS has taken responsibility for most of the suicide incidents and terror attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained control in August 2021.
