An explosion occurred at the Jihadia religious school in the area of the Bandar Road in the provincial capital of Aybak on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 30, sources from Samangan tell Zan Times. 

While the exact number of casualties is not known, a source in the city tells Zan Times that students are among the dead and wounded. 

A source in the hospital tells Zan Times that at least 19 bodies, and 23 injured from the site of the explosion were transported to the hospital. Local Taliban authorities have also confirmed the explosion, saying that 15 people were killed and that dozens of injured have been taken to the hospital. 

A number of local media outlets are reporting that at least 35 people were killed, and 23 others were injured in this explosion.  

The explosion occurred during noon prayer. The type of explosive has not yet been determined. 

This building used to be a teachers’ training school before the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. After their takeover, the building was turned into a religious school for boys, which is aimed at training and indoctrinating a new generation of Taliban members.  

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this explosion.
