A pregnant woman was killed by her husband on Saturday morning, October 15, local sources told Zan Times.
A resident of Qeshlaq-Bomba area of Police District 1 of Pul-Khumri city, she was the mother of two toddlers, according to a neighbour of the victim who does not want to be named.
A community elder says the killer is the woman’s husband, a Pul Khumri taxi driver. “This family was not in a good economic situation,” says the elder, who also believes Ahmed, the woman’s husband, is a drug addict and uses methamphetamine.
The exact cause of this murder has not yet been determined.
The media quoted security sources as saying that the husband of the woman handed himself over to the Taliban police.
Since the Taliban regained power they have dismantled all legal and institutional systems of support for victims of domestic violence. There are increasing reports of violence toward women, including murder, across the country. A month ago, a resident of the Qol-Palang area of Pul-Khumri city stabbed his wife to death.
