Sources say that 16 people were injured in two consecutive explosions in western Kabul on Saturday evening.

“At around 7 p.m. today, an explosion occurred in the Pul-e-Khushk area and another one next to the Bahar Sarab market. Sixteen people were injured in both incidents,” a resident of Dasht-e-Barchi area who helped take some of the injured to the hospital told Zan Times, speaking on condition of anonymity.

He said that in the first explosion, which took place at 6:45 p.m., a bomb, which had been planted in the frame of a bicycle, exploded, injuring six civilians. The second explosion occurred near Bahar Sarab market, injuring at least 10 people. According to him, this explosion was caused by explosives placed in a tea thermos and placed next to the market entrance.

Khalid Zadran, a Taliban police spokesman in Kabul, confirmed the two explosions but said that only three people were injured in both explosions.

Western Kabul, mainly inhabited by Hazara, has been the site of many attacks in recent years. In a report published last week, Human Rights Watch said that ISIS has repeatedly attacked Hazara and other religious minorities in their mosques, schools, and workplaces, but the Taliban authorities have not taken steps to protect and care for the victims and their families.

Also, last Saturday, a group of British politicians published an investigative report on the situation of the Hazara, in which they warned the Hazara are at serious risk of genocide at the hands of the Taliban and IS-K.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for these two explosions, but most previous attacks were carried out by IS-K.
