The Taliban cut off the ear of a traffic policeman who was on duty in Samangan province on Friday.
“On Friday evening in Aybak city square, when a traffic officer was guiding traffic, a Taliban pickup stopped for a few minutes. They cut off the ear of the traffic police,” an eyewitness told Zan Times.
According to him, one of the four Taliban gunmen in the truck pulled a knife from his pocket and cut off the traffic officer’s ear.
A video was also shared with Zan Times, which shows a traffic policeman holding his right ear with his hand, his clothes soaked in blood.
Abdul Nafee Takwar, the spokesman of the Taliban’s Ministry of the Interior, did not provide more information on this incident, saying that they will investigate the matter.
The eyewitness also said that the injured policeman had worked for the previous government. Reports from the United Nations and the Human Rights Watch have accused the Taliban of violence and targeted killings of people who worked for the previous government.
