Six people, including a child, were injured in an explosion in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Balkh province, a hospital employee told Zan Times.
The explosion occurred around noon on Wednesday in the Balkh Gate area of the city. Asif Waziri, the Taliban police spokesman in the province, said in a statement that the explosion occurred when someone was trying to transport explosives into Mazar-e-Sharif. He explained that the explosives exploded prematurely and injured the carrier.
According to Waziri, no other person was injured in the explosion. But an employee of Abu Ali Sina Hospital, located near the site of the incident, said that six injured were brought to the hospital, one in critical condition. He said all the injured are civilians.
Since the Taliban took power, journalists face serious hurdles in doing their jobs. The Taliban rarely give information about explosions and terror attacks and have beaten journalists, broken their equipment and prevented them from collecting information.
