The Taliban police in Farah province said that they have arrested a man who stabbed his wife to death on Tuesday.
Maulawi Adalat, the Taliban district governor of the Parchaman district of the western province of Farah, said that the arrested person’s name is Khair Mohammad and he has killed his wife on Tuesday morning. He did not provide any more details.
A resident with knowledge of the incident who spoke to Zan Times on condition of anonymity said that 40-year-old Khair Mohammad confessed that he had killed his wife after an argument.
There is no information about the identity of Khair Mohammad’s wife.
Since taking over the country in August 2021, the Taliban have dismantled all systems of support for victims of domestic violence.
Even before the Taliban took power, Afghanistan was one of the worst places for women, “with 9 out of 10 women experiencing at least one form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime,” according to the UN.
