Zan Times is a women-led, investigative newsroom that covers human rights violations in Afghanistan. We investigate and report stories from inside and outside Afghanistan.

We are aware of the challenges, dangers, and opportunities of working in the country and are doing our part in keeping the world informed on what is happening in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. Since our inception in August 2022, we have produced close to 100 in-depth and investigative reports.

Our team is led by Zahra Nader, a PhD candidate in Gender, Feminist and Women’s Studies

Focus on Human Rights Issues

Our newsroom is dedicated to uncovering human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly those impacting women, the LGBTQ community, and environmental concerns. Partnering with us means access to in-depth, investigative reporting on these critical issues.

Editorial Independence

We maintain strict independence in our editorial policy, ensuring that our stories are free from external influences. Our transparency about funding sources assures partners of our commitment to unbiased reporting.

The partnership can go two ways:

  1. If you have a story idea, our team on the ground can investigate and provide raw or edited reporting for your story idea.
  2. If you are interested in covering Afghanistan, but you are not sure about the topic, then reach out to us. We have plenty of story ideas to share, and can also offer guidance in how to shape and refine your topic.
